The best AI agent apps

Eleven apps that keep AI agents working for you, side by side. We make Bloks, so we are telling you why it is first; every claim about the others was checked against their own pages.

Our pickBest overall

Bloks

The only app here that does everything in the table below: your machine, your AI plan, undo, approvals, memory you can read, a phone app, and free for work.

  • Runs on the AI you already pay for. Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Cursor and more, on your existing sign-in.
  • Your agents live on your machine. Their memory is Markdown you can open, read and edit.
  • Safe to hand real work. Agents ask before they act, and anything they change can be undone.
  • A team, not a chat. Rooms with a lead, agents that message each other and hire help with your yes.
  • With you everywhere. Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Apple Watch, a server or managed hosting.
  • Free for any use, including at work, except selling it.

Questions

About AI agent apps

What is an AI agent app?

An app that keeps AI agents around: each has a job, a memory, tools it can use and a way to reach you. Unlike a chat, it can work on its own, on a schedule or when something happens, and pick up where it left off.

Which AI agent app is best?

For most people who already use Claude Code, Codex or another coding agent, Bloks: it runs on that plan, keeps everything on your machine, asks before acting and can undo what it did. If chat apps come first, OpenClaw. If you want a cloud agent with nothing to install, ChatGPT dots, Grok Bot, Claude Cowork or Meta Muse. For code alone, Devin.

Which ones keep my data on my own computer?

Bloks, OpenClaw, Hermes Agent, OpenBot and MausBot run on your machine. ChatGPT dots, Grok Bot, Meta Muse, Instinct and Claude Cowork's cloud sessions run on their makers' computers.

Can I use my Claude or ChatGPT subscription?

In Bloks, yes: agents can run on Claude Code or Codex, which use those plans. OpenBot and MausBot work with your coding CLIs too. Claude Cowork and ChatGPT dots are part of their makers' own plans.

Is this list fair, if Bloks made it?

We make Bloks and put it first, and we say so. Every mark about another app was checked against its own pages, which are listed on its comparison page, and each comparison says where the other app is better.
